: Hey Vince,
: I have the same new wiring harness as you
: and ran into the same thing. On my '57
: FC-170 Tour Jeep the relay was down near the
: gas pedal under the drivers floor. Here's
: what I did. Go to the drivers door side and
: follow the post up where the door hinges
: bolt up. At the top you will see a triangle
: piece of metal that is used to brace the
: door pillar to the dash/front cowl area. I
: drilled one hole in that triangle piece of
: metal and mounted the relay there. The
: black and red wires that hook to the relay
: from the harness end right in that area and
: the power lead from the headlight switch is
: just the right length also. I mounted mine
: after the dash was installed to make sure
: there was proper clearances. The dash
: filler piece covers the relay so its out of
: sight. I imagine most later models mounted
: their relay in that area also. When you
: come to that one or two wires that you can't
: find a place for shoot me an email and
: remind me and I'll remember where they went.
: Carl might have corrected the instructions
: by now anyway. If I remember right it was
: something to do with the turn signals. A
: brown wire maybe.
:
: Hope this helps,
:

: So, thanks for the horn answers now on to
: the
: relay. Where is it supposed to be located?
: It was under the front of dog house on my
: 170, but the new wire harness is set up to
: have it somewhere under the dash. The wires
: to the relay are too short on the main sub
: harness and on the main harness. Any input
: would be appreciated.
