Jeff,
Jessie said a mouthful. I agree, plus I learned an earful. I also like 235/R8/16 tires as a maximum. If you want better stopping, and lower gears, then a shorter 215/R85/16 would be great. A friend of mine put those on his Willys PU. Another buddy talked me into putting 33x9.50's on 15" rims on my M-Truck. They are the maximum in my view also, but you won't have stock 16 wheels if that matters. I can send a photo if you want to see how my 33's fit. A previous owner lifted the front end by 2", so I wanted to have the tallest tires. I will probably lower it to stock some day for safety. My 33's will still work with the factory height. I'm told not to use tubeless on ancient Willys rims, or they will leak through the seams.

: I have a '60 FC-170 that I am currently
: restoring. I would like to put larger tires
: on the original rims. How large can I go?
: Can I use tubeless? Will I need more
: clearance and if so what is the best way to
: gain 2"-3"? As with most FCs it
: looks like the front springs a sagging.
: Thanks for any input.
