Bruce,
Just passing along a warning.
Many years ago, a friend of mine mounted shoulder belts in his flat fender Jeep pick-up. They were 3 point mounts out of a passenger car that his buckets came from. The belt anchored to the door post and the reel was on the floor behind the seat. The buckle anchored to the rear of the transmission hump.
After install we went out for a weekend trail ride. About 4 miles down the trail he stopped, ran around the truck, and started working on the passenger side. Seems he didn't have the take up reel exactly level, and the impact locking ratchet activated. With every bump, the belt system tightened against his passengers middle. He couldn't get the buckle to release, and had to cut the belt.
I do not know if this could still happen with newer passenger car belts, but unless the others on the Forum can advise, you might be wise to stay with belts out of SUVs {like the Durango). I use competition "Y" belts and consider them very comfortable, and safer.
Just a thought.
