Posted by Stephane Bouliane on April 19, 2004, 9:53 pm, in reply to "Re: iaido and religion" I like very much the way you specify that "no religion is really perfect when spoken through the mouths of humans". Since I never eard the "words of God" spoken by anyone else than humans... God never spoke to me directly so far... (if we don't consider the metaphores of "the beauty of nature such as flowers, animals, natural balance of univers (Ying&Yang) etc. as "the words of God") ;-) You're also right about the bible... No matter the real origin of those words (God or humans), the bible do contain A LOT of wisdoms (even if some part of it may sound a bit suspicious when we take the time to realy think about it)... Thruth is thruth, and wisdom is wisdom... No matter if the words originate from God, Buda, Allah, Albert Einsteing, phychiatricians, any well intentioned humans, or even a 9 years old child asking "why war? shouldn't all human be friends with each others?" Since time travel is not possible (yet...and may I think that a resonable "rule of thumb" could be to simply wonder "does it make any sense?" instead of blindly accept any kind of doctrin... But yes... there's a catch! ...and that catch could be resume by a single word: "HONESTY" ! "Does that make any sense?" must be asked honestly while seaking "Absolute truth" instead of a "selective truth" that would feel more comfortable... That is probably the worst difficult part of any "Wisdom Path"... Also, when we think that we found the "right honnest answer", we should never be afraid to keep re-asking ourself the very same question from time to time because "what made sense at a certain point in our life, may not necessarely make sense anymore after we get some new data that were not available in first place, or data that we were not ready to accept in first place (denyal of facts cause by an "inner convictions self-defence reflex"). The opposite is also true: What wasn't making any sense at any time may easyly make sense later when we get new data to consider, or simply when we get rid of the fright of realising that we were wrong about something... I believe that "real wisdom" words should make senses to everyone seeking some wisdom in the world no matter wich religion, origin, ethnicity they have... and for those other words that don't fit that description, I don't automaticaly disrigard them... I simply become suspicious instead of accepting blindly a doctrin and ask myself: "Does that make any sense?" Luke, I would like to thanks you for your criticism about my previous post, and for sharing your point of view with me and everyone else reading this forum. I highly value any and every inputs that may help me "move forward another step on the path of Wisdom..." I wish you a nice day... and a nice life... Stephane PS: To anyone reading this, please don't believe or trust me... Who knows, I might be totaly wrong... I might even be possess by a devil wich is trying to lead people on hell's path... Don't take any chance accepting my words... Doubt are the begining of Wisdom.. Play safe and get your own answer by asking yourself: "Does that makes any sense?"
Hi Luke,
I would like to tell you Thanks for specifying about "sin of man rather than the wrongdoings of Christianity or God" and "product of the corruption of man"... I totaly agree with your point of view.
or may not become possible) it's totaly impossible to "scientificaly validate" by "todays standard" any words writen several thousands years ago (when God "directly spoke" to the bible writers) as "real words of "The Supreme Being" who spoke directly to the humans who wrote the bible... and that it's not possible either to validate that what "Jesus said when he was on earth" is realy what he said (without getting corrupted by humans who wrote the bible)
No matter how many time we re-ask ourself the same question, when we find "the right answer", that answer will always remain the same.
