Posted by Stephane Bouliane Could someone look at it, and give me some feedback about my sword? Here's a few details about my sword: - cost 275$ - according to the sales person, it was probably made in Spain - was bought in a store selling "fantasy sword". this one was the only katana that had the blade going trough the whole length of the handle (appear very solid, but I didn't try to cut anything else than vegetables & fruits with it) - blade is made of steel (no idea wich type of steel) and is sharp, but not razor sharp. According to the sale person, it can be sharpen much more than what it is... - Saya is made of aluminium! (I'm thinking about making myself a oak Saya because I realy don't like the idea (nor the sound) of the steel blade rubbing agains the aluminium Finaly, I'm 5'5" (yes, I know... it's short for a man! lol)... the pictures contains mesurement of my sword ...an for "extra bonus points" lol : Thanks in advance for your time.. Could someone tell me if my sword could be suitable for cutting?
You can follow the curent link (http://www.palaisdelamagie.com/temp/my_katana.html) to a temporary html page showing pictures with several close-up detail of my sword.
Could someone tell me the meaning of the 6 japanese characters/words that are on the blade? I realy would like to know the meaning... Also, there's a kind of "shuriken metal tag" on the Saya. Could it be some "family cress replica"? or is it simply a "look cool without any meaning" tag?
