Posted by Len Pellman I understand your predicament, because I have been there several times during my lifetime. I hope no one in the samurai swordsmanship community would illicitly provide you with training materials. Free personal lessons would be one thing; bootlegged tapes, books, or videos quite another. The samurai were the epitome of moral conduct of feudal Japan (even though not all upheld the highest standards), so hopefully no one claiming to follow in their footsteps would steal -- even to help another person. If you truly want to learn the ways of the sword, you now have an opportunity to start your training without books or videos. You can start by finding a way to earn the money you need to obtain the training equipment and resources you need. If you are able-bodied enough to train in iaido or kenjutsu, you are able-bodied enough to earn money. The lessons you learn in patience, dedication to your art, and determination will be vital to your future training and maturation.
