Posted by Max Roach Most of the people I have come in contact with use the iaito made by nosuiaido which is also known as The Sword Store. I have used a blade made by them for several years and am very happy with it. Rick polland(US Sales Rep.) is very nice and easy to work with. He offers iaidoka a seemingly limitless array of options for furnishing custom iaito. The drawback of these swords is that they are very expensive and often take a very long time to arrive. After being questioned by my students, I did some research and found a company based out of Kyoto called Tozando. My understanding is that they use the same manufacturer as The Sword Store for the blades. They offer a good variety of swords at very reasonable prices. So far four of my students have ordered blades from Tozando. The quality of the Tsuka-maki and attention to other details are very good. I also use their iaido hakama and kimono gi-top. They are of very nice quality. The English speaking sales represtentative's name is Yasumasa San. He is very friendly and helpful. Both of these companies have websites at which they can be contacted. I have enjoyed working with both of these companies and their people. I hope this helps with your question about where you can get a good iaito. If you have any more questions or if I can be of any help feel free to contact me at iaimax2@msn.com. Or if you are in Utah come see us at Yama Oroshi Dojo at Utah Aikikai. -Max Roach
