Why the ghost had taken such a malicious female to be her new best friend was beyond the thought train of any being on this mountain. It was apparent, however, that Cay would have liked to be rid of the dead wolf. At least, everyone but Karuma herself could tell that Cay would like her to find some new person to pester; Cay had much more important things to do than babysit an adult that acted more like an abused child. The pains and toils of Karuma's past meant less to Cay than dung. Yet Karuma stayed, and so did the headache that had recently formed in the tiny fox's head.
---
Karuma thought Cay to be the sister she never had. She could tell the vixen almost anything and feel heard. It was what she always wanted--someone to love her and care for her. Sure, Cay was a little sarcastic and sometimes rude, but she didn't leave Karuma like so many other people. All Karuma's dreams had come true. Maybe death wouldn't be so bad this time; with Cay around to be her friend and companion, Karuma could smile at the world like she could when she was young.
---
--[And there she is, blabbing on about some hurt. DSM? Pah, how stupid. This wasn't even her real sister. Gosh, how many problems does this crazy woman have? And why me? Do I have a sign on my forehead that says psychiatric help or something? Because if I do, it lies. Go away before I risk my life by bothering a rank and getting them to dissolve you.]--
Such were the thoughts of Cay, twitching her white ears as Karuma's nasally voice stampeded into her brain and tore open each nerve with a dull machete. Cay had already told Karuma several times to get lost, although not in the same terms. It seemed the poor wolf couldn't get the hint that her presence was a never-ending migraine. "..And then Riku died," Karuma concluded, unable to cry in this ectoplasmic state.
"Wow," Cay grumbled. "Like I haven't seen death before..." She muttered something nasty beneath her breath, knowing the wolf wouldn't hear/understand/pay attention.
"Yeah, I know," the wolf agreed. Cay bit her lower lip to keep herself from screaming. Much to her disdain, Karuma continued with yet another crazy story. Cay already heard her entire history six times. When would enough come?!
---
{--She's so nice to me. I can't believe I deserve such a friend! She listens to me all the time. I'm so fortunate. I wish I could do something nice for her... I doubt in my present state I could aid her with something, but I'm certain there's something... Oh, I wish I were alive and still had my wings! I could take her for a ride on my back. A simple pleasure, but it would be fun! I've never flown with a friend before!--}
"And so I follow her, not knowing the trap I was walking into," Karuma said, raising her translucent grey head in reminisce. "That was the first assassination attempt, and the only failed one."
Karuma smiled lightly as the fox nodded in attention. It was good to have such a good friend.
--[I wish they would have killed you then. I wish you wouldn't have come back, you annoying creature. In fact, I wish you were still alive so I could kill you myself!]--
{--Thank you, Cay. This means so much to me. I... I promise to be the best friend I can be. Thank you... So much.--}
