Despite her compromised emotional state, Hayden still had to suppress a chortle at the placidness with which Kage took the story. She made a mental note to go to Seg for all emotional crises. But now was not the time to think about such things, for Kage was back with her, here at her side. She had feared it would never happen. At his last words, she pressed her head against his. He would have no idea how much of her time was spent wishing he was by her side. So much had happened as of late that gave her a constant feeling of hopelessness, despair, and insignificance. But she just had to relish the fact that he was here by her side again, something that was unique in her entire history. She gave a slight smirk, maybe with this, that meant that her family's curse of dead or disappearing mates was dissipating. Maybe her mother would face the fact that Anubis was not returning, or that her brother would move on after his mate's death all those years ago.
