I found this site tonight. I am trying to research the Anthonia Schmid & Gered Tjaden family. My Gt-Grandmother, Gertjedina Schmid (married to Heyo Frey) is a sister to Anthonia. In our Frey family history (Aplington, IA), it mentions the Tjadens of Sheffield, IA. It says that in the 1920's, Aunt Antona and the two unmarried girls lived in Aplington for a time. There was a brother Siebe who was always at the forefront of the Westward movement. After Siebe's family of six boys wee grown and had gone to the West Coast, Sophia, went also to the West Coast, and Siebe stayed in Montana. My Dad often talked of Siebe coming back to Aplington to visit our family, the Frey family; Siebe would have been a first cousin to my Grandpa Henry Frey. My Dad said also that Janis Paige (Donna M. Tjaden) was Siebe's grandaughter - therefore, my possible third cousin.
