I have family on my mother's side in and around Emmetsburg and Ayrshire Iowa, and I and my mother reside in Minnesota. It is so nice to see such a well put together site dedicated to the family of Tjaden...my other searches for information on other ancestors have fallen way short. Thanks so much for having this!

I decide to delve into our family bible looking for family names to use for any future children, when I found the names of my Grandfather Heike's parents. His father is listed here http://www.family-tree.us/ipage.php?t=1&id=I0102 as Frank Garrles and mother Rieka Catherine Tjaden. Now, my Grandpa went by Heike Garrelts...somewhere the name got changed I guess. All of the siblings first names match and I am blessed to have known many of them.
