In 1935, Erich Honecker, the latter president of the Deutchen Demokratischen Republik (DDR), has used the name Marten Tjaden as a pseudonym to travel under cover to Berlin, where he was arrested by the gestapo. In 1986, when he was president of the DDR, he personally wrote a letter to the legitimate owner of this name: Marten Tjaden click to read the letter After the integration of the two Germanies, Erich Honecker fled to Chile in 1991, where he died 3 years later.
