My Family has always pronounced our last name "Chay-den". I have lived all my life in Iowa, there must be a lot of us around the greater midwest because people ask me if I know "so and so tjaden." My family comes from Germany somewhere near the baltic sea. I always tell people it's spelled tjaden but pronounced smith.
