Hi Margaret
It is possable to make a request at "Library and Archives Canada".
You have to stipulate what documents you are looking for. The military records request form includes;
POW index card,attestation papers, discharge papers ect.
The dept. is swamped and it takes a while(6to8 weeks min.) It is free of charge and well worth the effort.
I was able to verify that there is indeed an original POW index card for most Veterans. This simple card contains valuable details concerning their whereabouts and relocations during the war.
