You have to stipulate what documents you are looking for. The military records request form includes; POW index card,attestation papers, discharge papers ect. The dept. is swamped and it takes a while(6to8 weeks min.) It is free of charge and well worth the effort. I was able to verify that there is indeed an original POW index card for most Veterans. This simple card contains valuable details concerning their whereabouts and relocations during the war. Hope this was helpful to you.
