Hello!
I was VERY happy to learn of the dedication of the monument in Ottawa. Of course I have in mind the huge sacrifice of all of you, but particularly of my uncle Frank (Francis Gallagher from St Jules / Maria).
I know little about his experience in Hong Kong or of his detention in Japanese camps. After his return (I was 3 years of age, at the time), he always remained silent about his ordeal. We deeply respected this silence, of course. But as his nephew, I would like to know if anyone knew him, remembers sharing the experience personally with him.
Any information would be of great solace.
Thanks so much for the information, but more particularly for the generosity of your gesture some 50 years (or so) ago. This must NEVER be forgotten.
