My step-father was Colin Cameron (E30608, L/Cpl, C Force, First Battalion, A Company, RCRs) and I thought I might post to se if any of the survivors knew him.
He was not willing to discuss much about his imprisonment. After the war he suffered with alcoholism but sobered up with the help of AA and in later years was to be a dominant force in my own recovery. I know that he suffered a lot of quiet anger and initially, it was what caused me to befriend him. However, relationships were difficult for him but I stuck it out and in the end came to love him very much. He taught me a lot about living one day at a time and when he died, it was a great personal loss. He is forever, one of my heroes as are all the men who suffered this great indignity.
I hope now to get to the wall in Ottawa to see his name and those of the others.
Regards
Gerry
