Try a search of our sites using "Sommerville". Not sure which is the correct spelling. You may wish to create a new entry as you've attached your query to an old item that visitors might not see is updated.

: Hello,
:
: I am looking for information about my
: mother's cousins. Their surnames were
: "Somerville". They came from
: Quebec City. Both my parents knew many in
: the regiment who fought in Hong Kong such as
: Earl Todd.
:
: I know that several indivduals were forced
: to speak on the radio to family and friends
: in Canada. The Americans have copies of the
: broadcast(s) in their "Library of
: Congress" archives. I was told some of
: the soldiers tried to inform the homeland
: (by crude coded words) about the fate of
: those POWs from Hong Kong.
:
: Anyhow, I would appreciate any help or
: comments. Thx.

: Hello:
:
: My father was a POW in Japan for 3 years, 8
: months. First they were in North Point,
: then Sham Shui PO Camp and lastly Yoahama
: North Tokyo.
: My father was with the Royal Rifles of
: Canada in
: "B" Company, "11"
: Platoon. I was not aware of any of them
: being traitors during the war or being
: procecuted after the war. I have a list of
: men who were there from the Royal Rifles. I
: do not recognize the names you mention. They
: must be from a different platoon. The Royal
: Rifles and Winnepeg Grenadiers were
: together.
