I am searching for any information anyone may have relating to my Grandfather Noel Hammond. He was attached to 7 Platoon HKVDC (4318NP SC) under Lt Stoker and was involved in the fighting around Stanley and Maryknoll Mission on or around 23/24/25th December 1941.
I have parts of papers and a diary relating to his experiences and subsequent imprisonment in Sham Shui Po and Narumi Camp in Japan, having been transferred on the 5th draft (Toyamu Maru) in December 1942. (He worked in a locomotive factory in Nagoya during that time)
My Grandfather sadly died 2 years ago aged 88 and very rarely spoke about his experiences during the war, although I am now in possession of his diary and identification discs which he had kept secretly all these years.
His diary mentions the following names if this interests anyone looking for information about relatives etc:
Ian Dixon
George Aitkenhead
Geoff and Sam Darby
Neville ?
Ikey Kemple
Rusty ?
Corky
David Parsons
Ginger Day
John Jardine Patterson
Fr... Kempton
Tiny Gardner
Busty Bruce
Purci
? Sheehan
Dr Riley
