I recently rescued a dog that sure looks like a WPG - or at least a mix with alot of the griffon traits. We got the dog from a shelter while my husband was out of town. There was no aggression or fear in this dog at all. He was totally gentle and submissive - a very sweet dog. He seems to be very possessive however. He has not accepted my husband at all. When my husband came home from his trip the dog barked and growled, even nipped at his heels a few times. My husband has been very patient with him and the dog will allow Bill to pet him when I am near, but the dogs body is very stiff. This has been going on for several days. My husband is starting to feel like a prisoner in his own house as the dog barks at him any time he moves. Any ideas on how we can overcome this? I really want to keep this dog. He also barks at any strangers, which is fine with me, but I would think my husband wouldn't be regarded as a stranger by now. Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to offer.
