We adopted Winnie in the spring from Griffon Rescue. She was an extremely anxious dog that was found roaming the streets and she has required lots of love, time, medication and patience. She has bonded intensely with our family, including children. However, adult strangers still scare her to death. She has NEVER shown agression to people and likes children a lot. Unfortunately, today, she snuck upstairs and attacked our cat while it slept in bed with our daughter. The cat has a dislocated hip and will be fine. But, we have finally come to the conclusion, that she needs a home where she will have lots of room to run and hopefully someone who has the time to spend with her. We have a suburban yard and when we left she barked and upset the neighbors. We tried leaving her in the house, but she causes mischief. At this point, we have to crate her when not home. She does not seem to mind the crate, but I still don't like leaving her in there for long periods of time. I think she may have been a hunting dog before we adopted her which may explain her lack of socialization with people and desire to kill the cat. I would love to find that perfect fit for her. Again, she has the ability to bond with those in her immediate family and she really is gentle with the kids. So as long as you are not a cat and have the time and patience to giver her, she could come to love you. This is very difficult for our family as we have come to love her too and I know any change will be tough for her. I am happy to answer any questions about her. Thank you.
