Why not save the Triton?

Why can't one of these historic ships be saved and turned into a floating museum? It was heartbreaking to think the Skipjack 585 was scrapped, an historic boat in her own right -- but can't the Triton be saved too? Probably not -- but wishful thinking. Is time running out? Is it scrapped yet?
