Gentlemen, I need your help. The USS Triton (SSRN 586) is out here in Bremerton, WA waiting to be scrapped. However, I, and some others, feel that she should be turned into a museum. I think that I've got a fairly good chance of this happening if:
1. I can find a professional group to support this.
I have a few thoughts on this issue, but any thoughts and ideas are welcome.
2. Said group has, or can raise, $3 million as a deposit on her. This is a fairly large concern, but I feel that it can happen. Cincinnatti raised $66 million to buy the USS Narwhal (a 637-class SSN).
Also, I have heard many rumors as to why the USS Triton (SSRN 586) hasn't been scrapped yet; if anyone knows the official story, can you please post it or email it to me?
Please respond to this post, or email me at korsair@seanet.com. I will be posting updates, and any changes in plans.
Sincerely,
Robert Kiefer
