I left Triton in Dec. 59, Capt. Beach called me into his state room to get me to extend for 6 months for a good sea trial and he wanted me to be able to be on it. He told me he could not tell me what it was but it would be something big. I already had a job at Vernont Yankee in Mass. and declined. I wish now I would have extended for the trip. Some times when you are young you never realize the importance of some people you have contact with. It is sad to see the old ship waiting to be cut up but more sad for the loss of it's Captain.
