I am indeed very sorry to hear of the death of Curtis Beachum and Tom Thamm. When one loses a shipmate, they lose a very DEAR FRIEND! I recall the, "Smoking Lamp Is Out" week, when Curtis, with a sea bag full of cigars, annouced over the 1-MC, "I'm quitting smoking cigar's by God!" "Any one who wants my cigar's, just come to the Control Room." "Their yours for the asking!" And when the "Smoking Lamp" was turned back on, he had a change of mind. One catch, he had to buy them back!! And Tom Thamm was ONE GREAT GUY!!! He personified a Submarine Officer!
