Hello all,
I didn't serve aboard the Triton but, many years ago, I was employed by a gov't contractor and we installed an electronics suite on a ship in the St. Helena Annex in Norfolk VA. The pier next to ours had a submarine tied to it. I thought I recognized it to be the Triton although the Navy types insisted it was a diesel boat. I don't think diesel boats use radiac monitors as there were many positioned alongside the boat. I'm guessing that with 2 reactors it'd still be a "hot" commodity. This would be in the 1990 time frame and the fact that it could've been the Triton intrigues me to this day. Can anyone corroborate what I'm saying? By the way, I'm a bubblehead as well, as I served on the USS Houston SSN 713. Thanks ahead of time.
Jack
