Hi Guys. Just received this email from a very proud son, Eric Freeze. He wanted the crew to know just how much his fathers time on board the Triton had meant.
Message reads:
Dear Sir,
My name is Eric Freeze, I am the youngest son of Rene "Frosty" Freeze. Dad was diagnosed with Alzheimers Disease in 2002. In 2004, the disease was too strong and dad was forced to move in with me. This last Februrary the 9th, dad passed away. Over the last few years one thing I learned about my father was he truly loved the US Navy, the Submarine Service, and his shipmates; for that's pretty much all he would talk about. Nearing the end, the disease was really affecting his speach, he just couldn't think of the words he wanted to express, whenever this would happen, he would use the word "submarine" and his universal word. If he wanted a cup of coffee, he would ask for "some submarine."
I would appreciate it if you could inform his shipmates, and let them know what kind of eternal bond they created with my father who in the end remembered them while not even remembering most of his own family.
Sincerely
Eric Freeze
