TRITON SHIPMATES:
As former crew members of TRITON we are all well aware of the forthcoming salvage operation of TRITON, we're all still very proud and of course very sad to see a GREAT SHIP come to its demise. We previously discussed the possibility of moving the sail to the TRITON Battalion Building, RTC, Great Lakes, Illinois, but the cost was prohibitive.
I'm forwarding this email to LCDR Harry Hampson, USN (Ret.), in that he has been the point of contact involved with recovering TRITON Artifacts, to see if he has further comments on this.
I've also forwarded this to MMCM(SS) Harold Weston and MMCS(SS) Cal Cochran, they are Vice-Chairmen of the USS TRITON Reunion Committee.
My feelings at this point are that, I'm in favor of promoting endeavors that will preserve the history and memories of the GREAT SHIP USS TRITON (SS(R)N586)
I'll take a look at your website and get back to you and I'm sure my shipmates will also.

I wanted to contact you and the former crew of the Triton. I got your e-mail from your website. We are a Port District within the State of Washington. The Department of the Navy has given approval to transfer the sail of the Triton to us and we are attempting to create a park on the Columbia River for its display. You may or may not know it is scheduled for salvage starting in October of this year. We have been working with the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard (Bremerton, WA) in coordinating the transfer.
