I am currently a VA patient, diagosed with "Asbestos-Related Pleural Disease." It appears to be benign at the moment but the entire left side of my chest is covered with scar tissue - obstentially tissue formed to cover the fibers. After multiple life history reviews, a large cast of pulminologists have concluded that the only reasonable source was the continuous exposure to asbestos dust during Triton decommissioning work. That was quite some time ago, but the doctors said 20-30 years was very common for asbestos and asbestos-related problems to manifest themselves.
