Henry,
I received the following E-mail from Capt. Carl Triebes, who was the Repair Officer in USS Simon Lake. Pete was his PMA, while we were stationed in ROTA, Spain. I was the Asst Training Officer in COMSUBRON 16, aboard the USS Simon Lake.
It isn't good news, but I know Pete had a lot of shipmates on the USS TRITON.
Sorry I will not make the reunion in Jacksonville, but I will be thinking of you guys.
Tell them that the TRITON is still afloat at Puget Sounds Navy Shipyard, but it it waiting its turn to be recycled (Scrapped) when I checked a few months ago.

Charlie,
I received an email from an old Navy friend Fred Briggs who informed me that Pete Peterson is very ill. It occurred to me that you probably knew Pete on Simon Lake when he was PMA. Pete's outlook is not good. He and Howard Cornea were a good combination to have on any tender. I am enclosing the note that Fred sent.
How are you and Francine doing? We are well and enjoying grandchildren. Paula lives just three miles from us and we get to see her two boys every Friday. Phil and his family live just three hours away and we get to see them often.
Hope you are all donig well.
Do you know if Howard is still around? I have tried to notify as many people as I know about Pete.
Best wishes,
Carl
***Just a very sad update on Pete. I talked to Ethel today and she said the Dr has told him that the cancer has spread to his Pancreas and that there is nothing left to do except keep him comfortable. He really doesn't want anyone to come and visit because he has lost so much weight and is so weak. He's on morphine and is kind of in and out. She asked me if I'd help her with his uniform medals when the time comes, so I guess that's an indication of how bad it's become. I don't remember if he was a member of the Subvets in Groton, but if he was, Joe or Bill would you please let them know that we could use some prayers for an old shipmate. Also, cards and/or letters are probably appropriate.
