I agree that TRITON should be saved if possible however funds to do so would have to come from private sources. The city of North Little Rock, AR year before last bought the former USS RAZORBACK (SS 394) from Turkey saving her from the scrap dealer. The Subvets here in the state were very active in that action and have expended many volunteer hours working on board. Mare Island is attempting to save DRUM as that was the last boat built there although don't know how their efforts are doing. It is a real shame we have to scrap these historical items instead of trying to save them. The SubVets in Springfield, MO were successful in retrieving the sail from LAPON for a museum display. It can be done but it also takes a tremendous amount of time and funds to make it happen.
