bottle feeding baby goats

I have a newborn, weak kid that the vet figures was deprived of oxygen waiting to be delivered after his much bigger sister. The vet told me to use formula, and although he is just starting on the bottle...he has been sucking out of a large eye dropper. Is there any trick to making him take the bottle, any smell,coatings i could put on the nipple? And why is the formula so bad, if they produce it to be consumed by kids? thanks for all the help!
