Posted by KidsPlay on February 24, 2004, 9:59 pm 1) How do you recommend I heat frozen does milk to keep all nutrients in? This is not coloustrum. 2) What temperature do you recommend the milk be at feeding? 3) Do you recommend bottle feeding or teaching them to suck from a pail? 4) Is it stupid to think I can keep them inside the house for a week or so until the weather warms up? 5) Have I gotten myself into too much with three buck kids? 6) At what age do you recommend I were to wean Alpin bucks? One will be used for breeding, but the other two will be sold after they are weaned. Any suggestions to get the breeder into fine conditioning? 7) I have done alot of reading on the schedule to keep with baby goats, and I have no problems with it, but I have heard people say that a kid MUST be fed through the night, and some say they sleep the nights... should I let the kid tell me when it is hungry and feed accordingly, or keep a schedule and offer food on that schedule even if the kid is not acting hungry? 8) Scours... I am somewhat scared of this word as I have heard of several babies dying in a very short time from scours. Is there any way I can prevent this? What causes it? And should it happen, how do I save my babies? Thank you VERY much for your time. Please reply with any answers, even if it is just a tidbit of information I will definately appreciate it! KidsPlay

I just got three 3-day old Alpine bucklings and am bottle feeding them does milk which has been kept in a freezer.
I really DO NOT want to use milk replacers as I have heard some bad things about them in relation to severe and fatal scours, so I would prefer to use some home mixture of milk.
I do have a few questions I hope someone can help me out with. I greatly appreciate any pointers and tips you can provide.
