My husband and I just “acquired” two Angora goats, a momma and two week old billy kid. They were stressed and overheated, no shelter and a couple of inches of dirty water in their pen, no evidence of food. The doe is very thin under her long hair, her backbone sticks up, her ribs and hipbones jut out. We brought them home and put them in a pen with shade and a dog house, gave them clean water, some alfalfa and cut the matted filthy hair away from mamma’s poor tushie. They seem very happy and relaxed after some food and a nap. Now what? Any guidance from goat owners will be greatly appreciated.
