Posted by Cat The kid was cold, wet, weak and trying to find mom. Mom was tring to clean the kid but, not letting her drink. I scooped up the kid took her into the house. I wrapped her in a towel and placed her on a heating pad set on low. My husband and I got the doe into the barn and milked her, about 4 oz. Back into the house, the kid was warm but, not interested in the milk. I gave her some "Jump Start" a molassas based vitamin and mineral tonic, formulated just for weak kids. About 2 hours later she was interested in the milk and drank 2oz. I took her back to mom around 8:00 p.m. I set up a heat lamp and placed her under it, all seamed well in her world. I checked again around 10:00 p.m. then at 2:00 a.m. At the 2:00 a.m. check she was flat again. Cold mouth, cold body, not much interest in anything. Back into the house, the towel and heating pad. She wouldn't drink, wasn't interested. I left her wraped up, warm, dry and secure in the baby basket. About 6:00 a.m she was up and I took her back to mom where hunger took over and she found the right place to find food. It's been a week since all this activity she has gone from 5.6 pounds at birth to 7.8 pounds and is jumping around and acting like a healthy kid. Any suggestions as to what I could have done better. Catherine

My angora buck who I thought didn't do anything actually bred one of my angora does. She had her kid on the coldest day of January around 3 p.m. I heard the kid yell when I was doing chores, dropped everything to see the new arrival.
