Indeed they are difficult to slate, however, depite being fantasic musicians, I can't help but wonder if their reputation is somewhat reliant on the endorsement of a songwriter called Bob Dylan with whom they recorded several albums. Would the general public have taken note of the bulk of The Bands material without this association to make it 'credible'? Sure, I don't doubt their performance abilities for a second , but are the songs themselves worthy of equal merit? Probably not. (I'm not sure I agree with this argument myself). That one was even harder... Next.
