The life domestic was, well, great!
The little home in the suburbs of Dallas was perfect! Within four weeks of moving in, Shawn had completed quite a few of the “honey do” items Claire had placed on his list. Often Claire would come home, leaving one job at the office to take on another at home. Walls were repainted, new carpeting installed, and the house was just beginning to take on the personality of the new owners. Down the list was the getting of new furniture… All the endless tasks required of the homeowner. The house was within 20 miles of Six Flags over Texas. Close enough for Claire to give in on Shawn’s wanting year passes to the amusement park. The couple planned on heading there within the next few weeks to see the sights. Claire couldn’t help but smile when Shawn mentioned the rides… the food… he was like a kid taking about the place.
Domestic life was…great…except one troubling fact. Both Shawn and Claire worried about a little secret…something they discussed quietly…something they never talked to outsiders about… The troubling fact, proven by marks on the bathroom wall was that the young couple with the idyllic life were, unmistakably, getting bigger. At first they rationalized that they were putting on weight, or their new workout routine had make them a bit more muscular, or their clothes were getting smaller, or, maybe… Finally Shawn wanted to prove it… to actually see what was happening Both measured each others height. Shawn 5’10”…6’2”… Little tick marks made in pencil on the bathroom wall proved it. Claire stood 5’ 5” Slowly her marks advanced up the wall… 5’ 8” 6’ 0”… 6’ 8”! Within weeks the couples’s height matched up. Both now stood exactly 6’8” They were growing at the same rate!
“Shawn…” “What are were going to do?” Claire whispered the words in the darkened bedroom… “The neighbors are noticing us… our clothes don’t fit… we are starting to have problems even finding clothes!” “I know…I know…” he mumbled. “Should we go to the doctor baby?” “No” came his quick reply. Rolling over he kissed her gently. “What would they do to us?” he continued, “I’m not gonna chance that!” Her silence only underscored her fear. Shawn tried to make her feel better. His arms went around her… His lips kissed her ear… “besides… you look so amazing! “Amazingly Tall!” she exclaimed… “Don’t worry beautiful” he reassured gently, “we will get through this!”
But she did worry…
