Shawn trudged through pouring Texas rain... smiling
Another day of work in the garage he had bought three years ago with Clarie. Three years had gone so fast! They married young, put off buying a home, choosing to rent and investing all they had in a small garage. The days were such a blur! He had started out by himself juggling the accounting books, tax forms, red tape, parts orders, insurance issues,and, oh yeah, fixing cars. Clarie had supported him all the way, working hard at her own job to support his start up costs. They lived in the worst dives imaginable! One room flats with no square footage, endless broken down homes, and even above a Chinese Takeout place. Claire always tried to scrimp and save, moving them around to find the new lowest rental rate. After two years his shop began turning a profit and she got a promotion at work. Most would have well... "lived a little" with their new income. Not Claire, she convinced Shawn that they should continue to save every penny so they could someday buy a home. Honestly, he grumbled a bit... her driving an older broken down Dodge which she used to pick him up every day. But, Claire wanted a new home and Shawn obliged her, she had put everything aside to help him start that garage. In the third year his business really moved from just fixing cars to restoring cars for wealthy buyers. Again Claire prodded him forward. She was convinced it would be a great way to boost their income. In the end, the whole idea had really paid off huge. He made contacts... found buyers for older cars... made a name for himself in the restoration business.
Normally, he would be a tad irritated at getting caught in a mid-day Dallas thunderstorm... not today, today he was going to deliver the good news! He bounded up the stairs fit the key into the dead bolt and almost yelled out "I'm home... guess what!" He caught himself seeing that she was all curled up on the bed sleeping ever so peacefully. Normally, he would let her sleep but this was the best news! Still he hesitated... Friday was Claire's day off and her day to unwind and relax... She was as beautiful as ever, even more! As took in her sleeping form... he couldn't help but notice how she seemed to fill out the sweats and T-shirt she had on. Clair had always been slender...clothes were always just a bit large on her frame. It seemed that she filled out the clothes more... Shaking his head he dismissed the thought and slowly sat down on the bed to take off his painfully tight shoes. As he struggled to get them off, she stirred in bed.... her eyes focusing on him...
"Guess What!" he said smiling watching as her eyes widened in excitement...
"We got..." she began "the house you wanted!" he finished
The young couple hugged each other in bed. Finally they had a place!
