A postage stamp cost you 3 cents. *********** On television ( for those who had a set ) if it was Sunday night, some of the shows you might watch were Gene Autry Show, Red Skelton Show, You Asked For It , What's My Line The rest of the week you might tune into shows such as these: Beat the Clock, My Little Margie, Jackie Gleason Show, Our Miss Brooks, Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet, Amos "n" Andy, I Love Lucy or The Lone Ranger. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Some of the top songs for the year were: GIVE ME MORE, MORE, MORE (OF YOUR KISSES) by Lefty Fizzell, EASY ON THE EYES by Eddie Arnold, Hank Thompson stayed at number one on the country charts for 15 weeks with THE WILD SIDE OF LIFE, 14 weeks in number one on the country charts was Hank Williams with JAMBALAYA (ON THE BAYOU) , Kitty Wells had a big hit with IT WASN'T GOD WHO MADE HONKY TONK ANGELS, Hank Snow had a big hit with THE GOLD RUSH IS OVER, Jimmy Boyd hit it big with I SAW MOMMY KISSING SANTA CLAUS. Some of the other big hits for the year were: BLUE TANGO by Leroy Anderson, CRY by Johnnie Ray, YOU BELONG TO ME by Jo Stafford.
