Posted by Grey Bruce Owen Sound Football on 2/9/2006, 11:59 am If we planned to play some 7-on-7 ironman sno-ball (flag, touch or tackle?) football up at Victoria Park, could each team come up with 10 past or presently active players interested to go, I think so but worry about Saugeen District's and St. Mary's lack of a captain and not much action from those in Grey Highlands and John Diefenbaker which is not a good sign. The game-day rosters would be a QuarterBack who doubles as a DefensiveSafety, 3 WideReceivers (FullBacks/RunningBacks) who convert into DefensiveBacks (HalfBacks/CornerBacks), 3 OffensiveLinemen who become DefensiveLinemen and 3 UtilityAlternates who can play almost any position at the drop of a dime. If we had 6 teams of 10 of those kind of players, with the extra five imports from other sources to make up the 65 maximum limit, we would be granted an expansion team immediately, with the proper fundraising in place of course (along with the nice solid base we have in Owen Sound). We will use http://members4.boardhost.com/gbciaac/index.html as our area's forum to announce the rules for the upcoming 7-on-7 game, when and were and hopefully what time when all of us can get that out there, so be sure to bookmark it and pass it around. Snow-Bowl 2006: Out All Interested Footballers, For those who didn't hear about it, we were going to have each of the 6 BAA Football teams bring out 7 of their finest players (each player would pay $5, making it $35 for 7 on each team, with 6 teams making it $210) to play each other team in round-robin play for the Snow-Bowl (with all proceeds going to the new football club, subtract the amount for the chilli), and at the end of the game the winning team gets to drink its Chilli out of a huge Cup (or just eat it like the rest of us mortal humans from smaller styrofoam ones). But now, we are without a major event this winter that could kick off our campaign for a football team in this area, so what do you guys think we should do this year - as we can always do this Snow-Bowl idea next year for the Super Bowl weekend in 2007? Should we plan for a flag-football version of this in the spring with a Sportsdrink shower for the winners? Or is there a better idea any of you may have as far as fundraising and getting together for community sake? With our expansion bid having a better chance now than ever before let's make an effort to get this campaign off with as much of a bang as we all can make! Also, be sure to send in the names of those interested in the March meeting, as we need to know the numbers for space and room. Grey Bruce Owen Sound Football Club
The fairest way around this upcoming game would be to give each of the 6 BAA Football squads a maximum limit of 10 players (7 starters and 3 alternates), this way when the day comes to create one united roster for the expansion team we can easily transit into the CMFL-NFC official roster limit of 65, as 60 would be home-grown past or present high-school talent from the region.

As you may know, our Snow-Bowl 2006, which was to be played the Saturday of the Super Bowl Weekend, has been indefinitely cancelled. Not enough snow to play up at Victoria Park, didn't get 7 players from each of Bluewater's 6 teams to play against each other and too busy with the off-field chaos as it is.
