I am very interested in talking with anyone researching the DAY family. I descend directly from Zachariah Day, who was first listed in GA in the 1820 Gwinnett County census. Later census data (beginning in 1834 in Forsyth County and ending in 1860) show him as being born in North Carolina around 1785 (+/- 3 years). I have never been able to locate his exact birth place in NC, nor have I been able to find his parents and/or siblings. I was EXTREMELY surprised when I saw "Ambrose Day" listed in the 1790 census for Franklin County, GA. He's the earliest DAY I've seen in any GA data, and because of the proximity of Franklin to Gwinnett and Forsyth, I wondered if HE might be Zachariah's father. I have also just found William Day alongside Zachariah in the 1821 land grant records, and they both live in Gwinnett County in 1821.
