Jeptha Vining was born about 1738 in Sutton MA. He removed to Johnston N.C. and then S.C. and then Warren Co., GA. sometime after 1776. He was a famous Baptist preacher of his time and helped organize and constitute many churches like Long Creek Baptist Church. His children were: Thomas, John, Matthew, Uriah & Joshua, Ann & Abigail. Jeptha died in 1797 and is buried at Long Creek Church Cemetery. His son Thomas went to Al., Uriah & Joshua to LA. Matthew died young and John died in 1791. Abigail married Jesse Greer and Ann married Dixon Perryman.
