According to an article in the Elbert Co. Heritage book, Frances Burden, born 3 Feb 1806, died 3 Jun 1874, married Thomas Mewborn on 26 Oct 1824, was the daughter of William Burden (son of Archibald and Hannah Burden) and Claryca "Clary" Shappard, daughter of John and Anna Shappard. William Burden was born 1774 in VA but relocated to Elbert Co. by 1799 when he made application for headright land for himself and one dependent. He married Clary before 1799. Clary was born in SC in 1777. William and Clary are buried in the old section of Holly Springs Baptist cemetery where their headstones are marked with WB and CB. My email is yonahdells@alltel.net
