Looking for proof of Rev. War Service of Matthew Gallaway (Galloway) b. dec 15, 1759, d. Oglethorpe Co. GA 14 Feb 1824 married Beaver (1) and Mary East (2). Sons by (1)William, B. 1783, Mar. 1805 Poly Ragan son William Ragan Galloway and Levi.
DAR has closed line because proof of drawing bounty land in 1806 Oglethorpe Co. Lottery not limited to Revolutionary Soldiers only. Family oral history says Matthew fought in Georgia militia in South Carolina and was P.O.W bought his way out. Levi his son filed for and obtained land in 1827 land lottery of Georgia as "orphan" but need actual proof orphan of Revolutionary War soldier his father Matthew. Asking for help on where I might find papers Levi filed for the 1827 land lottery that might show his father as Rev. War soldier.
Thank you.
