Re: DMC Briliant and Cutwork Thread

DMC and Anchor both used to make coton a broder thread. DMC made it in the same colors that they now make in embroidery floss. It is extremely hard to find because no one makes it anymore. I can find white and ecru made by Anchor which works well for Schwalm work. DMC called their coton a broder Brilliant Cutwork and Embroidery Thread. It is a twisted non-divisible mercerized cotton thread and is used extensively in Slovakian and Ukrainian embroideries. I am starting a sampler in Ukrainian embroidery, and am trying to find the coton a broder. But it apparently no longer exists. I may be able to substitute DMC Floche which is also a non-divisible thread.
: I have no idea what a "broder" is.

: keep reading that DMC Brilliant and Cutwork
: embroidery thread is the same as a broder.
: Does anyone have any opinion on whether this
: is the same as a broder, and if so, do you
: know where to purchase this thread. So far,
: I have found Anchor a broder, but only in
: white and ecru.
