yeah, i have tons of sites with dmc conversion charts, but like you said, the added cost is the only downfall to going that route.
the kit i did before the one i'm working on now was a gold kit as well (the present one is just a regular). so good luck with your gold kits, and with the baby! maybe drop a post on here when you start stitching and let me know if you have the same problems with the thread.
