Wow, what a coincidence, I happen to have a pattern to make one of these! It is from the Joyous Occasions: A Collection of Heirloom Hardanger Designs book by Emie Bishop. Although it does have hardanger work in it, you could just stitch the little floral pattern. Let me know if you would like a picture of the "Magic Hanky -Baby Bonnet".
Here's a cute little verse that's in the book:
I'm just a hanky as square as can be,
But with a few stitches a bonnet I'll be.
Worn home from the hospital or on christening day,
I'll be carefully pressed and then put away.
For her wedding day as we all have been told,
Every beautiful bride must wear something old.
What would be better than to find little me?
A few stitches snipped and a hanky I'll be.
And if it's a boy, someday he might wed;
She'll carry the hanky he wore on his head.
