Hi Pamela,
I'd hate to give you the wrong advice, but it is good to wash your fabric before framing it as usually even the cleanest hands can cause fabric to have stains over time.
I guess acid free stuff is best to use - if you can find it and afford it. Otherwise things go yellow.
If you could sew extra fabric (aida?) neatly onto the sides of your stitching, it may be large enough then to go behind the frame? That way you could do the weaving and have it taunt, which is better to preserve it than using glue.
Don't forget to press it on the reverse side before mounting with a hand towel over the top of the fabric.
