The other week I was working on my old tractor, getting ready for the fall harvest when my Grandson asked me, Grandpa, why do you work on such an old machine when a newer one would be better. As he stood there watching.I said What makes you think that a new tractor would be better than this one I asked. He said well for one thing you wouldn't need to be fixing it all the time, and two you could do more work with it, and three, it is old and needs to be taken away. Looking at him I replied, Well son let me tell you about this tractor. This tractor was one of the very first tractors that I bought many a year ago from another farmer here in town. When I bought it home your Great Grandpa looked at it and said the same thing you said, and that I should go and get my money back, but I didn't. I went to work on it and after some fixing got her up and running, and to this day she has repaid me many time over than a new machine would. What do you mean by that Grandpa,he said. Just like what the good book says Do onto others as you would want done to you and your blessings will be fruitful. Huh? In other words Take care of the old and frail and you will be rewarded in the kindom of God. I still don't get it Granpa, by fixing this old tractor you are blessed? How?. I chuckled, by knowing that if I take care of her she will take care of us by preparing and planting the crops, cutting the hay for the livestock and doing the heavy work around the farm.I get it now he said, Granpa, what, I said. will you ever get a new tractor someday? Maybe someday when I can't take care of her anymore,That will be up to you son up to you. Amen.RRRTHD+
