There is an enormous truck stop located at Jessup, Maryland. The man running the "Trucker's Ministry" there is sponsored by a local church. "Chaplain Hoppie" as he is or was known, lived in a room there which was paid for by his sponsor church. He was a retired trucker. The last time I saw this brother he was having heart trouble and was almost blind, but he was still "carrying his cross". I supplied him with Bible Tracts oriented toward truckers. I moved away from there almost a year ago and I do not know if he is still there, or still with us..... To get to the building to see the Chaplain you had to cross a large parking lot loaded with road rigs and also filled with dope dealers, prostitutes, gay prostitutes, and just about every other type of sociopath you could name. It is so open that the "lot lizards" as they are known to truckers, usually advertise by CB radio. Truckers, who travel on the road sometimes year-round, are in need of ministry. A lot of truck stops either have, or need to have, this type of operation. God Bless "Chaplain Hoppie" and every other person who does this much-needed type of work. It ain't easy....
