Howdy,
I am coming to this discussion a bit late and I hope I do not offend anyone. While I agree with what my well studied responders have posted, I also disagree with what was stated that you can not do. OK, everyone breath in. The ministry the Lord has lead me to is as an Emergency Services Chaplain. The type of incident you report is the type of incident I respond to. In 2003, my County had 10 deaths in a fire. 9 of them children (6 in the summer and 3 before Christmas) I responded to both. If possible, there are some great courses available that will help ministers in dealing with this type of incident and the one posted. Check and see if there are any Critical Incident Stress Management courses near you. See if the County Emergency Services or Human Resourses can give you a lead. There is an outstanding Pastoral Crisis Intervention (1 and 2)out there. It is designed for minister intervention for such an incident as was posted. Completion gains certs with the ICSF. I have taken and cert'd in CISM Group Intervention, Peers, Pastoral Crisis Intervention and will be taking their CISM Suicide for Prevention, Intervention and Postvention. For me,they have been very helpful in fulfilling HIS ministry and has added to HIS word, not replaced. Even if you do not plan to enter into this field of ministry, you never know where our Lord will call you. Training will give you the tools you need and our Lord provides the tasks. I hope this has been taking as it was meant. There is training out there, find it, take it and use it.
